When DeSoto, Texas, first incorporated back in 1949, the town was home to fewer than 300 residents. In fact, less than 50 brought forth the petition to form the city in the first place. Today, though, the suburb of Dallas has developed into an active and thriving community of nearly 50,000 residents.
